A full safety inspection of all memorials in the cemetery is to be carried out on or after 21 March 2022. The inspection is necessary to ensure that the cemetery is a safe place for all visitors, staff and contractors.
The inspection will include a full visual examination of each memorial to identify any obvious defects and a hand test to check for stability. Any memorial identified as unsafe will be cordoned off while the council attempts to contact the owner.
